Maria Eugenia (www.mariaeugeniagiron.com) is Executive Director for IE Business School Premium and Prestige Business Observatory (http://www.observatoriodelmercadopremium.ie.edu) (2010-today). Sponsored by Mastercard, the Observatory does applied research on luxury and premium consumption. She teaches “Premium, Luxury and Creative Venture entrepreneurship” at IE Business School. She is member of the board at IE University (www.ie.edu) (2009-today)

Maria E. Girón is an entrepreneur with over 18 years experience in luxury goods retailing. She has led and operated successfully business and brand turnaround and has advised numerous luxury companies on strategic development, expansion in Asia as well as brand building.

Maria started MEGAMCAPITAL in 2010 to manage direct investment in premium brands. María was advisor to Silvercloud (http://www.silvercloudholdings.com) (2010-2013), the investment vehicle of Marwyn Management Partners to invest in premium and luxury and was Chairman of Le Chameau the leading French brand for premium rainwear, first investment of the fund.

Maria E. Girón led the management buy in of Carrera y Carrera, (www.carreraycarrera.com) in 1998. The company was at the time a dormant family business dealing in the jewellery business. She turned the company into a global luxury brand and sold it to Lladro Group in 2006.

image001Her former experience at the luxury goods industry was at Loewe, the leading Spanish company. From 1992 to 1993 she participated in the development of a strategic plan for the brand. Later, she was responsible for Loewe International, including 32 stores in Japan and 15 in South East Asia.

She started her professional career at First Chicago Bank as a financial analyst (1988-1990). Later, during her time at Harvard Business School (1990-1992), she was involved as consultant with the Guggenheim Museum and Estee Lauder Company.

She received an Engineering degree from ICAl Universidad Pontificia de Comillas and a MBA degree from Harvard Business School.

She is member of the international Board of OCEANA (www.oceana.org) (2007-today), a leading environmental organization, was member of the European Board of YPO (Young Presidents Organization) and founder of YPO Madrid chapter. She is member of Advisory Board of the Centre for Study of Sustainable Luxury (www.awardinsustainableluxury.com) (2010-today) , as well as Board member of Fundación para la Diversidad and of “Spain Start-Up Summit”. Was member of advisory board of Stowe School (www.stowe.co.uk) and is advisor to Ashoka (www.ashoka.es)

She sits on the Boards of companies such as Gastón y Daniela (www.gastonydaniela.com) (luxury home textiles) (2009-2011), Pedro García (www.pedrogarcia.com/en/) (high end fashion shoes) (2010-today), and Suarez (www.joyeriasuarez.com (leading Spanish jewellery retailer) (2011-today) and several entrepreneurs projects including Savelli (www.savelli.com) (2012-today).
